Post-doctoral Research Fellowships in suicide prevention research

Supervisors: Dr. Marie-Claude Geoffroy and Dr. Gustavo Turecki

The Research Group on Children’s Psychosocial Development (GRIP: at McGill University seeks one post-doctoral fellow (1-year term, possibility to renew) to be involved in suicide prevention research program. The successful candidate will be co-supervised by Dr. Marie-Claude Geoffroy (McGill University) and Dr. Gustavo Turecki (McGill University), both regular researchers at the GRIP.

The candidate will be involved in research that investigate risk and protective factors associated with suicidal behaviours across the lifespan. To conduct his/her research, the fellow will have access to large longitudinal data set and co-supervision by a team of experienced researchers who will work within the context of international multidisciplinary teams.

The postdoctoral fellow will participate in all research activities in our ongoing interdisciplinary studies and will be encouraged to apply for independent financial support (postdoctoral awards).

Selection criteria:

  • Ph.D. in relevant discipline such as psychology, psychiatry, psychoeducation, public health, epidemiology; 
  • Academic excellence as demonstrated in grades (GPA above 3.6/4.0 or the equivalent)
  • Experience in publishing research findings, scientific communications, and knowledge translation;
  • Methodological skills and capacity to conduct complex statistical models with large longitudinal data sets;
  • Experience analyzing data with software such as SPSS, SAS, R, M+, Stata, etc.;
  • Capacity to read and write in English;
  • Be authorized to work in Canada.

Salary: in accordance with Fond de Recherche du Quebec guidelines

The fellowship is for 1-year, renewable depending of PI’s funding and performance.
